6 REASONS TO SELL YOUR HOME DURING WINTER

It’s that time of year again, when were faced with the dilemma, “Should I sell my home now or just wait until Spring?”

Here are just a few reasons to keep you home on market even during Winter:

House supply typically shrinks during this time of year. Sellers usually wait until Spring , as they think their homes will sell for more money than in the Winter. The truth is, more sellers means more supply, less demand and lots more competition. Don’t wait until the Spring when all the other sellers put up their homes for sale.

At this time of year, only purchasers who are serious about buying a home will be in the marketplace. You and your family will not be bothered by mere ‘lookers.’ You may have fewer showings but more qualified buyers.

The home selling process can take quite a while, from contract signing to closing, and this has remained to be one of the biggest challenges faced by the current housing market. Banks are inundated with purchase and refinancing loan requests. Both of these slow down in the winter cutting timelines and the frustration it causes buyers and sellers.

If you are considering moving to a different home, now is the best time to do it. Prices have appreciated since the second quarter of 2012 and are projected to appreciate by over 15% from now through 2016. If you are moving either up or down, chances are you will  be able to take advantage of low interest rates.

You can lock-in your 30 year housing expense with historically low interest rates now. When interest rates are lower, people are more likely to buy homes. It costs less to borrow money then when interest rates are higher.

Think of the reason you decided to sell your home in the first place, and decide whether it’s worth the wait or not. Is money more important than being closer to your family? Is money more important than your safety and health?  Is money more important than having the freedom to live your life to the fullest?
